On 24th November at the UCT in Cape Town, history was made. The inaugural Blastbeat SA National Finals took place and had the cream of the SA scene competing to win a trip to the Blastbeat World Finals in Dublin, Ireland.
The Blastbeat MMCs all gave DVD presentations outlining their journey to their own battle of the bands event and outlined their hopes for their social enterprise's future. The competition was so fierce, and the work of such high quality that the judges were torn between Scandalous Sounds and Bass Level Productions. Eventually a tie was announced, and parts of both companies, and other competing MMC members of high calibre were invited to make the trip to the Dublin World Finals.
The music also received great acclaim, there was an impressive variety of talented performers getting the crowd going and performing some real show stoppers. The judges had their eye on solo hip-hop artist Hamza for first place. He had the recipe for success with his stage presence, infectious lyrics and crowd pleasing performance.
